Friends of St. Anne’s are delighted to announce that the school is holding a second textile collection for the Happy School Bag Fundraising Scheme. The first time we held a Happy School Bags collection, with support from Parents/Carers & Staff, we were able to raise £179.40, so we have organised this again.
This scheme is designed to help schools to raise funds and to help the environment by diverting discarded but reusable textiles away from landfill. In the UK alone we consume and discard over 1.4 million tonnes of textiles every year which goes directly into landfill despite the fact that there is spare capacity in textile recycling plants. By taking part in this scheme you help to reduce this amount by giving textiles a new lease of life.
To take part you simply need to fill the Happy School bag with any unwanted but clean clothing – students will be bring these home.
We accept both children’s and adult clothes including paired shoes, accessories (hats, belts, handbags, etc…), soft toys and bed linen. It is also a perfect opportunity for you to have clear out at home.
Remember that the more you fill the bag the more the school can raise. If you are not able to fill a bag, please send in any items you have and we will fill bags in school. We receive a competitive rate of 60p per kilo and you can also use additional black bin bags if necessary.
This is a fantastic opportunity to raise eco-friendly awareness amongst children. Everyone can take part, so spread the word and let’s get fundraising!
The Happy School Bag van will be collecting from our school on Wednesday 14th June 2017 at 9.30am. Please send in your bag and ask your daughter to drop it off to the Lower Site Library by Tuesday 13th June 2017.
We hope you can help us have an amazing collection!
