AIMS

The Design and Technology Department at St. Anne’s prides itself on the commitment students’ show towards the subject. Staff teach in specialist rooms and there is an emphasis on continually raising the standard of Design and Technology provision for our students. Accommodation comprises 7 specialist rooms. Sharing our specialist skills and knowledge with colleagues has become vital to the success of the department.

KS3

Through a variety of creative and practical activities, pupils will be taught the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to engage in an interactive process of designing and making. The girls will work in a range of domestic and local contexts [for example, the home, health, leisure and culture], and industrial contexts [for example, Graphic Design, manufacturing, construction, Cooking and nutrition, agriculture (including fashion]. As part of their work with food, pupils will be taught how to cook and apply the principles of nutrition and healthy eating. Instilling a love of cooking in pupils will also open a door to one of the great expressions of human creativity. Learning how to cook is a crucial life skill that enables pupils to feed themselves and others affordably and well, now and in later life.
